A community mourns the tragic passing of 11-year-old Kali Henderson, a young athlete with severe asthma and a love for youth football.

Kali experienced a medical emergency under the care of her father’s partner, and according to her mother, emergency services were not immediately summoned nor was CPR administered during the critical moment.

Family friend Marsai Sade Bell shared a poignant narrative of Kali’s final hours, recounting the devastating realization faced by Kali’s mother, Heather Ella Rise, who only learned of the crisis too late. Bell expressed, “Imagine receiving a call about your 11-year-old daughter’s severe asthma attack, only to discover the responsible party failed to seek hospital care or perform life-saving measures.”

“This situation was not unforeseen,” Heather revealed, “My ex-husband and his partner were present yet remained detached while medical professionals addressed the situation.”

Kali’s mother had previously advocated tirelessly for asthma awareness, even pursuing legal changes to safeguard her daughter’s wellbeing—an effort ultimately rejected by the court. Despite these warnings, Kali continued participating in vigorous activities like football, fully aware of her vulnerability.

Bell’s post conveyed the family’s profound anguish upon arriving at the hospital too late to save Kali. The emotional weight of the tragedy was further amplified by the indifferent behavior of Heather’s ex-partner and his associate, who ignored Heather’s presence during the crisis. Bell reflected, “Some stories defy belief until lived, yet this reality demands acknowledgment—not fiction, but a stark truth for Heather Ella Rise and her family.”
