Four-time state champion at Wooster High and NCAA All-American Brianne McGowan-Durfee's husband, Brandon, takes great pride in her new role at Damonte Ranch High School.
On Wednesday in September 2026, Damonte Ranch High School announced Brianne McGowan-Durfee as their new head softball coach.
Athletic director Jeff Thiede shared the news, calling her the perfect fit to lead the Mustangs back to success.
Brianne, fresh from her assistant coaching days at the University of Nevada, Reno, steps in after the team's 10-17 season last year.
Although her husband, , hasn't shared words on this matter, he must be extremely proud of her role.
Unlike Brianne's professional life, which is like an open book, her personal life remains private.

By 2011, the couple already had their son Connor, whereas their daughter, Kaitlyn, was born in 2013.
The family enjoys supporting the kids in their own sports activities. Brianne has mentioned in interviews that watching her children play brings her great joy.
In fact, their son, , is listed on the freshman football roster of Damonte Ranch High School.
Brianne McGown-Durfee Began Her Coaching Journey in 2008 Following Four Years of Competitive Play!
Brianne McGowan-Durfee embarked on her athletic path early, growing up in Reno.
At Wooster High School, she emerged as a dominant pitcher on the softball team. She contributed to her school's four consecutive state championship victories.
Her achievements include 13 perfect games—a record still unmatched—and 1,318 strikeouts, a statistic that persists today.
Additionally, she excelled in basketball and volleyball, receiving honors such as Gatorade National Player of the Year in softball.
Post-high school, Brianne attended Oregon State University to pursue college softball from 2004 to 2007. During this period, she established multiple school records, including 100 career wins and 852 strikeouts.
She earned recognition as Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year and was named an All-American twice. Her team advanced to the Women's College World Series in 2006.
Brianne also represented Team USA, securing a gold medal at the 2007 World University Games.
As her playing career concluded, Brianne transitioned to coaching. She commenced as an assistant at Oregon State in 2008, then proceeded to Boise State for two seasons, focusing primarily on developing pitchers.
Subsequently, she coached with regional travel teams, including the Nevada Comets, aiding young athletes in advancing toward collegiate levels.
From 2017 to 2026, she served as an assistant coach at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Outside of coaching, Brianne holds the position of Northern Nevada Development Director for Special Olympics Nevada.
