Desmond Ridder and his wife Claire Cornett have two children together. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Leighton Elizabeth Ridder, on April 19, 2026.

At the time of his first child’s birth, Ridder was still in college at the University of Cincinnati, preparing for the NFL Draft.

He has often spoken about how becoming a father motivated him to work harder both on and off the field, giving him a new perspective and sense of responsibility as he pursued his football career.

Desmond has also mentioned his daughter in multiple interviews, including one that featured his first deal with the. He said:

“Having a one-year-old, she’s definitely made me more selfless as a person. Everything from getting up early in the morning to going to bed late at night, from weightlifting, running, all the hard times that I have in football and all the struggles we go through, I know that, at the end of the day, everything I do, I do for her.”

He also mentioned that being a father motivated him and taught him patience. He further said to the Falcons:

“One thing is that she has taught me patience. Patience with this whole process. Patience with the journey of life. And, obviously, patience as a father. Not everything is going to go 100 percent your way or how you expect it to go. If you go with the flow and let things go, everything will work itself out.”

Nearly three years after his daughter’s birth, Desmond welcomed a son named Khylan, who was born in February 2026.

By then, Ridder was already an NFL quarterback, balancing the challenges of professional football with fatherhood.

The birth of Khylan added another chapter to his young family’s journey, and Ridder has expressed how important both of his children are in keeping him grounded and focused.
