Nicholas J. Crossan shared a touching tribute on his Facebook page for Tavar Proctor, the dedicated head boys’ basketball coach at Franklin High School within Seattle Public Schools.

The respected coach, who previously led the girls’ team from approximately 2017–2018 and revitalized their performance before moving to the varsity squad, prioritized fostering a positive culture, strengthening community ties, and nurturing young men both on and off the court.

Another advocate, Donyetta Jcoco Sanford, echoed these sentiments on social media, expressing frustration over recurring issues involving Black coaches. She questioned whether systemic biases influenced decisions, referencing a recent dismissal of a Black cheer coach alongside Proctor’s removal.
