Jacob Dermott, an 18-year-old student and athlete from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 28, 2026. The reason behind his sudden departure remains a mystery.
Beloved by friends as "Derm," Jacob was a cherished figure at Northampton Area High School. Growing up in Bethlehem, he thrived in sports, particularly football and track and field.
To aid his family, friend Noah Roke launched a fundraiser to offset funeral expenses, directing proceeds to Fawn Mollenkof.
The campaign, named “In Loving Memory of Jacob Dermott,” has surpassed $14,000, reflecting the profound impact Jacob had on those around him.
Friends fondly recall Jacob as witty, sharp-minded, and endlessly supportive: "He was irreplaceable—always ready to lend a hand, dependable, and full of loyalty."
Community members shared touching tributes, celebrating his warmth and dedication.
Tonya Snyder Reph shared the GoFundMe link, facing accusations of fraud; she defended the effort passionately:
Many dismiss the campaign as a scam, but I know Jacob’s story is genuine. Please respect our grief.

Northampton News and Nonsense blocked me—I worked with Fawn Gevaudan and saw Jacob taken in by her. The fundraiser honors her care.
Ann’s remarks hint at Jacob’s close ties to Fawn Gevaudan, though their exact relationship remains unclear.
Relative Victoria Mollenkof also affirmed the fundraiser’s authenticity, urging privacy for the family: "It’s real. Let us grieve without intrusion."
While the family grieves privately, Jacob’s influence endures through those he touched.
Details about his memorial service are pending. The community prays for strength during this sorrowful period.
Rest Easy, Jacob Dermott!
