Laurel Highlands High School Alumnus Jerry L. "Sport" Jordan Passes Away at 64
On May 19, 2026, the community mourns the loss of Jerry L. "Sport" Jordan, a cherished graduate of Laurel Highlands High School, who left us at the age of 64.
Born on September 4, 1961, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, Jerry was the son of Leola (Jordan) Hugh and the late Jerry Jennings, with step-father Merille Hugh. He completed his high school education in 1979 and dedicated much of his life to public service through PennDot.
Known for his passion for family gatherings, wrestling, and football, Jerry's presence was felt deeply in every event he attended. His passing, reported on Saturday, May 16, 2026, has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Though the cause of death remains undisclosed, Jerry's family and friends are finding solace in the memories they shared. Visitation will take place at the Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home in Hopwood on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, followed by another opportunity on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 10 am until the funeral service begins at 11 am.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary C. Jordan; children Shawna Jordan of Republic, Melody Jordan of Brownsville, Amy Jordan (Glenn Shuford) of Grindstone, and Joshua Jordan of Uniontown.
