Robert Samson: A Pillar of Taylorville's Business Landscape
Born on October 7, 1985, in Illinois to Richard Lee and Debra Faye (McCarty) Samson, Robert grew up immersed in the values that would define his adult life. As a proud alumnus of Taylorville Senior High School, he remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his career.
As the proprietor of Samson Concrete, Robert earned widespread respect as a skilled craftsman and dependable contractor, embodying reliability and expertise in every project he undertook.
Outside his professional sphere, he found joy in simple pleasures—fishing, playing pool, enjoying fireworks, and sharing outdoor moments with his children.
His passion for Zach Rhodes Racing highlighted his commitment to supporting local traditions and fostering community connections.
Robert: A Devoted Father and Cherished Family Man
More than his accomplishments, Robert defined himself by his role as a loving father to three children—Jayden Lee Samson, Brisa Lynn Samson, and Jordan Mahrie Samson. His heartfelt interactions with his kids created irreplaceable memories that will endure across generations.

Surviving him are his parents, Rick and Debbie Samson, grandfather Robert Samson Sr., brother Ricky Samson Jr., sister-in-law Anita Scott, and sister Deanna (Chris) Gideon. He also leaves behind his children's mother, Amanda Girard, along with numerous extended family members including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Predecessors in his life include grandparents Marge Samson, Mae Jean Wettstein, and John McCarty, alongside aunt Bobbie Mollet, uncles Danny, Randy, Steve Samson, and Roger McCarty. His cousin Katie McCarty and sister-in-law DeeAnna Samson also preceded him in death.
Though details about his passing remain private, a visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral service follows on Saturday, September 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., led by Pastor Brennan Hurley, with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery.
