Kipp Popert, an elite English golfer who has achieved global recognition as the world’s No. 1-ranked disabled golfer, continues to inspire his parents, Richard and Lindsey, with his remarkable golf achievements.

Recently, he set a new personal milestone at the 2026 U.S. Adaptive Open, delivering an outstanding 11-under 61 in the opening round at Woodmont Country Club.

The 27-year-old golfer, born with spastic diplegia—a type of cerebral palsy impacting lower limbs—now boasts the second-lowest score ever recorded in a USGA championship.

As a two-time defending champion, Popert’s commanding performance not only widened his lead in the tournament but also solidified his position as the top-ranked disabled golfer globally.

By consistently surpassing physical limitations and excelling competitively, Kipp brings immense pride to his parents while inspiring countless individuals worldwide with his exceptional abilities.

Equally important, Popert frequently acknowledges his parents’ unwavering encouragement throughout every phase of his journey.

Born 10 weeks early on July 6, 1998, Kipp received a diagnosis of spastic diplegia during childhood, a condition affecting lower limb mobility.

He endured intensive physiotherapy during adolescence and underwent 11 surgical procedures throughout his teenage years.

His parents provided steadfast assistance during treatment, fostering both emotional resilience and a deep passion for athletics that shaped his sporting pursuits.

Richard “Rick” Popert introduced young Kipp to golf by gifting light clubs and sharing footage of golf legend Bobby Jones.

He regularly transported his son to the local golf club where Kipp practiced extensively—up to 15 hours daily.

In an interview, Richard reflected:

“He maintained relentless determination despite multiple surgeries, Botox treatments, and splinting—never once faltering. His self-belief was unshakeable. No one invested more faith in Kipp than himself.”

Equally, Kipp emphasizes gratitude toward his parents, affirming their lifelong conviction that he could achieve anything.
