Honoring LaMarcus Dewayne Morris: A Remarkable Journey

A 29-year-old former Hartshorne High School and University of Central Oklahoma football star, LaMarcus Dewayne Morris, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2026.
Survived by his loving grandmother Lindsy Jo Pope Moody; parents Tammie Davidson and Jeffery Shores; sister Cierra Morris; brothers Jalen Shores, Jayzen Shores, and Jordan Shores.
Close friends include Jarrod Holt, Kirby Smith with her children Kenya Copeland, Kiersten Smith, Bryson Smith, Mackenzie Holt with her children Indie Harden and Navie Louise.
Beloved by nieces Khaleah, Khalani, Keiko, and nephews Koen and Kendon.
Also survived by uncle Eddie Morris, aunts John Pope Jr. and Reba Pope, cousin Edwinna Gehring, and many cousins.
His loyal companion Meeko the dog was always by his side.
Preceded in death by brother Alex Davidson Jr., grandfather Wayne Morris, great-grandparents John and Virgie "Sally" Pope, uncle Roderick "Bosco" Pope, great uncles Frank Pope, Howard Pope, C.A. Dunafan, Gary Gehring, and cousins Gary Gehring Jr. and Elijah YellsEagle.
Born September 3, 1996, in Talihina, Oklahoma, LaMarcus graduated from Hartshorne High School in 2015.
An exceptional athlete, he earned All-State honors as a key player for the Miners football team.
Continued his football career at the University of Central Oklahoma.
After college, he embraced bodybuilding with dedication, training daily and inspiring others through his journey.
Sharing his knowledge generously, he motivated beginners and supported fellow enthusiasts on their fitness paths.

Visitation scheduled Tuesday, December 30, 2026, 6-8 PM at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home Chapel, 528 South 3rd Street, McAlester, OK.
Tribute service on Wednesday, December 31, 2026, 12 PM at Hartshorne Elementary Activity Center, 862 North Cherokee, Hartshorne.
Burial at Bache Red Oak Cemetery, Bache, OK.
Pallbearers: Jarrod Holt, Chris Dunafan, Eddie Morris, Harold Meashintubby Jr., Harold "Boog" Meashintubby III, Isaac Sieg. Honorary pallbearers include Noah Meashintubby, Byson Pope, Calvin Bryce, Dallas Herring, Nathan Herring, plus family.
Family prays for strength during this difficult time.
