Leah Brundidge’s passing at 31 has created an irreplaceable gap in sports and academia.

Leah Brundidge, Ph.D., embodied leadership, learning, and distinction—on the field and beyond.

A distinguished Troy University alumnus, she earned her Bachelor’s in Sport and Fitness Management while excelling as a standout softball player.

During her senior year, she posted an exceptional .333 batting average across 108 games, solidifying her status as a fierce competitor.

Her dedication to sports transcended her playing career. She obtained her MBA and later a Ph.D. in Sport Management from Troy University.

Her groundbreaking dissertation, “An Illustration of Hope: A Look into the Work Experiences for Black Women in Division I Athletic Administration,” highlighted her dedication to fostering equity in athletics.

Brundidge held key roles in athletic compliance at Troy University and the University of Southern Mississippi, including Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.

In 2026, she advanced into corporate leadership as a Senior Field Sales Development Representative with Boehringer Ingelheim in Dallas-Fort Worth, proving her versatility across sectors.

Community Mourns the Loss of a Multifaceted Icon

The Troy community grieves the sudden departure of Leah Brundidge, who died on June 25 at 31.

Her absence leaves a profound emptiness in loved ones, peers, and those she motivated.

As the daughter of football great Eddie Brundidge, she carried forward her family’s athletic heritage.

Like her father, she shaped sports and professional realms through grit and compassion.

Former teammates recall her radiant energy, guiding presence, and relentless support.

Public viewing begins July 4 at 4:00 p.m. at Presley-Fluker Funeral Home in Brewton, Alabama, followed by the Omega Omega Service at 5:00 p.m. hosted by the Troy Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where Leah served as Vice President.

Attendees are requested to wear all black without pants; the service will occur July 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Brewton.

To honor her memory, a scholarship fund has been launched to perpetuate her mission of empowering others.

Donations in lieu of flowers will sustain this cause, keeping her spirit alive.
