A shocking footage of a 16-year-old Milnerton High School pupil enduring violent attacks by peers has ignited widespread fury and renewed pressure for robust anti-bullying policies.
The assault allegedly took place on October 16 just after classes ended.
The viral clip, posted online days later, captures the teen being physically assaulted while peers film the event.
UDM leader Nqabayomzi Kwankwa amplified the video on Facebook alongside a heartfelt plea from the victim’s mother.
"My son—a Grade 10 student—has suffered relentless bullying, assault, and emotional torment at Milnerton High School," she declared.
"These 18-year-old supposed leaders have chosen cruelty over compassion," she continued. "I speak for my child and all silenced students. Your duty is protection."
Her words resonated deeply nationwide, prompting parents and students to unite against such violence.
Citizen Trudy Van Noie urged families to persist in seeking accountability.
Bullying isn’t tradition—it’s degrading. Silence enables harm; action saves lives," she stated.
SAPS confirmed criminal charges have been filed in the case.
Investigation into grievous bodily harm allegations involving a 16-year-old student is underway," stated Sergeant Wesley Twigg.
"Details remain unclear, but no arrests have occurred yet," officials noted.
Kwankwa pledged ongoing UDM advocacy for justice.
We will pursue truth relentlessly for this case," he affirmed.
The Western Cape Education Department awaits further statements while communities demand systemic reform.
Public discourse now centers on strengthening safeguards against school-based abuse.
