South Carolina Soccer Community Grieves the Loss of Jerry White, Esteemed PRAA Coach and Devoted Family Man
The soccer world has been deeply saddened by the recent passing of Jerry White, a cherished figure in the South Carolina soccer scene and a guiding light for countless young athletes.

Jerry White, who dedicated decades to coaching with the Porter Ridge Athletic Association and lived in Fort Mill, passed away unexpectedly at 50 on July 25, 2026. Details surrounding his passing remain under review, but his influence on those around him continues to resonate.
Though the precise circumstances of his death are still being clarified, family and friends are focusing on celebrating his remarkable life. His commitment to mentorship, teamwork, and personal growth defined his approach both on and off the field.
Born in Livonia, Michigan, Jerry grew up surrounded by supportive family—parents Thomas H. White and Maryanne White—and developed a passion for sports early on. His athletic journey included soccer and golf, eventually leading him to a fulfilling career as a coach.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry was known for his kindness, generosity, and genuine care for others. His presence inspired confidence and camaraderie wherever he went.
The PRAA soccer family shared heartfelt reflections on his life, noting how he shaped young minds through unwavering dedication and compassion.

Jerry is survived by his fiancée Elizabeth Bitsy White, daughters Emma and Julia, ex-wife Susan, parents Thomas and Maryanne White, siblings Thomas White II (Amy), Theresa Waldron (Jeff), nephew Bryce Waldron, nieces Leah and Madelyn, and cousin Olivia White, along with numerous extended family members.
The Late Jerry White Held Leadership Roles at Genesys
In addition to his coaching, Jerry served as a Senior Consulting Sales Director at Genesys/Interactive Intelligence for over eight years. He joined in 2017 and received recognition with the Inspire 2026 President’s Club Award.
Before Genesys, Jerry worked at Avaya in North Carolina, first as a Client Principal from 2016–2017, then as an Engagement Manager for Interacrive Intelligence. His career spanned over fifteen years at Avaya, holding roles such as program manager, customer service engineer, and client principal.
He graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Accounting and Business Management in 1997, later earning an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2014. Jerry was also proudly affiliated with Sigma Chi fraternity.

- Jerry’s memorial and funeral will occur on Friday, August 8, 2026, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28277.
- Family reception runs from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
