Born in Ohio, Gray dedicated his career to mentoring athletes, beginning with his alma mater Baldwin-Wallace College before moving through multiple roles at Buckeye Central High School.

His coaching journey included stints at Colonel Crawford High School and Ridgedale High School, culminating in an eight-year tenure as varsity boys basketball coach at Lexington High School.

At Norwalk High School, Gray achieved unprecedented success leading the Tuckers for 21 seasons, compiling a 312-188 record and securing multiple championships.

His teams claimed 7 league titles, 13 sectional crowns, and advanced to regional competitions, including a historic Division II state championship victory in 2014.

Gray's influence extended beyond basketball; he also coached volleyball, track, baseball, football, and golf while serving in administrative roles at Buckeye Central.

Induction into the Buckeye Central Hall of Fame

Recognized for his contributions, Gray was enshrined in the Buckeye Central Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015, joining a distinguished lineage of local sports legends.

As a 1975 graduate, Gray excelled as both a football and basketball standout, notably contributing to Buckeye Central's first undefeated football season in 1974.
