Thomas W. Serpico, lovingly known as Tom, departed this world peacefully at his Manahawkin residence on September 24, 2026, surrounded by family.
Tom embodied the essence of a cherished mentor, devoted family figure, and integral part of South Jersey's communal fabric.
His departure brings profound sorrow, yet his generosity, guidance, and radiant spirit endure in hearts forever touched by him.
Born and nurtured in Spray Beach, New Jersey, Tom graduated from Southern Regional High School in 1972.
He pursued Economics at Franklin & Marshall College, graduating in 1976, followed by a Master’s in Financial Management from Monmouth University in 1993.
Professionally, Tom demonstrated exceptional intellect and unwavering commitment.
He thrived as a Travelers Insurance and Merrill Lynch sales representative before transitioning to AT&T in 1990 as Senior Software Delivery Project Manager, excelling for over thirty years.
Family anchored Tom’s personal journey; he cherished his partnership with Susan Batters and parented daughter Michelle and son Chris.
His Manahawkin home became a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and familial closeness.
Tom found profound happiness in his grandson Bennett’s presence during his final days.
Tom’s Passion for Basketball Defined Much of His Life
Coaching became Tom’s canvas for inspiring countless athletes through boundless enthusiasm and steadfast support.
His lifelong friend Chris Taylor reminisced about shared experiences since childhood.
