On Friday, December 5, 2026, Hertayvious Williams tragically died at age 24 due to a random act of violence.

Per Clarksdale Police Department reports, officers responded to a shots-fired alert around 2 a.m. on Anderson Boulevard near Catalpa Street.

Officers discovered Williams with multiple gunshot wounds and initiated emergency care before transferring him to Northwest Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Clarksdale Police Chief Vicent Ramirez expressed deep sorrow over the senseless violence impacting Williams' family and Friars Point community.

Playing primarily as point guard, Williams contributed significantly to Coahoma Agricultural's success, graduating with honors in 2026.

Wearing jersey number 3 for most of his career, Williams also donned numbers 12 and 2 during initial seasons.

During his senior year (2019-2026), wearing number 2, he helped guide Coahoma Agricultural to an impressive 27-2 overall record, including an 8-0 district finish and championship victory.

Awarded Player of the Game multiple times, Williams ranked 25th statewide and 1,316th nationally. His junior season saw similar achievements, while his sophomore and freshman years featured additional accolades.

Williams' contributions to Mississippi athletics and personal warmth will forever remain in community memory.

He leaves behind loving parents Chelsea Badger, siblings, and extended family. Preceded in death by brother Rufus, who passed approximately two weeks prior.

Family organized memorial services on December 26, 2026, followed by funeral proceedings at Friendship M.B. Church on December 27, concluding with burial at Friars Point Cemetery.
