Aaron Hjelt, Alpha Climbing's founder and head coach, tragically passed away in an accident on June 27, 2026, at 47 years old.
Born on September 15, 1978, in Lander, Wyoming, Aaron completed his undergraduate studies at Montana State University-Bozeman in 2004.
His career spanned multiple roles including executive director of Touch The Sky (May 2007–January 2017) and co-founder of DJAJ Audiovisual Solutions (January 2001). He later led Alpha Climbing LLC as head coach since December 2016.

Surviving Family: Brother Duane Hjelt Remains
Brother Duane Hjelt, a former physical therapist at Team Select, stands alongside Aaron’s legacy. Duane graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2000 with a Kinesiology degree and earned his master’s in physical therapy from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2004.
Currently working independently after leaving Charter Healthcare, Duane remains married to Jeanine Hjelt, a physician assistant. The couple shares two children and supports each other through this loss.
