Josh Wright Was Deeply Connected In Ohio High School Football!

Josh Wright built a remarkable career over nearly 30 years as a coach, teacher, and mentor across several Ohio high schools.

He made his mark early as head coach at Berne Union (2008–09) and later became a cornerstone of the Philo High School football program.

His impact deepened when he served as offensive coordinator at Tri-Valley, where he helped lead the team to a 10-0 regular season in 2026.

Additionally, he was also an English teacher at Tri-Valley and was known for his tireless work ethic.

Off the field and outside the classroom, Josh Wright was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Amy Wright, and their three children.

The Wrights were well-known in their community not just for their involvement in school events but for the genuine warmth and kindness they extended to others.

Josh often credited his family as his foundation and greatest inspiration in public domain.

Wright was recently appointed as the new head football coach at Tri-Valley High School in May 2026.

He was expected to revitalize the program with his strategic vision and unmatched work ethic.

His unexpected passing has left a deep void not only in Tri-Valley but throughout the Ohio football and education communities.

Students, colleagues, and fellow coaches have expressed their heartbreak. They described him as “the most selfless and uplifting man you could ever meet” and “the kind of teacher and coach that changed lives just by being himself.”

His former players, some now grown with families of their own, have taken to social media to share memories and thank him for lessons that extended far beyond the field.

, one of Josh Wright’s well-wishers, shared a heartfelt post on social media, saying:

I am physically sick over the news of the death of Josh Wright, age 50, yesterday. My heart goes out to Marysue and Dean Wright (parents) and Cay and Steve Wittman (devoted aunt and uncle), and Josh’s wife and children. Just so sad.

In every corner of the community, the message is the same: Josh Wright may be gone, but his spirit and influence will never be forgotten.

Vigils, tributes, and moments of silence have been held across the Muskingum Valley League.

Coach Wright will be honored on Wednesday, July 2nd at 9:00 p.m. at Sam Hatfield Stadium in Duncan Falls.

The past and current football players, the Tri-Valley community, and all who knew and loved him to gather in reflection and unity.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Josh Wright’s family, friends, and well-wishers.

Rest In Peace, Legendary Coach!
