Santiago Cruz, a 17-year-old from Rock Springs High School, is determined to claim a state wrestling title after previous near-misses, driven by a desire to motivate others—especially his younger sibling.

Cruz reflects, "Wrestling teaches life lessons that shape who you become. It’s made me better daily." Despite injuries like a torn UCL early in his career, he rebounded with honors including 1× All-American and multiple state titles.

Off the mat, Cruz balances football as a multi-position player, excelling in Texas high school sports while maintaining academic focus and considering future paths in business or sports medicine.

"My goal is to create a legacy for wrestlers coming after me," he shares, emphasizing teamwork and perseverance learned in Rock Springs' tight-knit wrestling community.

His journey began at age 10, winning triple crown honors at WAWA State Championships across styles. Now a senior, Cruz combines athletic prowess—5'6", 140 lbs—with leadership, echoing his coach’s belief in his potential.

"Family, coaches, and teammates kept me going," he credits, highlighting support systems crucial to his resilience.

Entering his senior year, Cruz aims to fulfill dreams while uplifting youth, embodying Rock Springs’ spirit of grit and excellence.
