During his extensive career, Grier held multiple pivotal roles including offensive backfield coach, running game coordinator, and vice president of player personnel with the New England Patriots.

He also contributed significantly as associate director of pro scouting and senior personnel advisor for the Houston Texans, and later as a consultant for the Miami Dolphins.
