Joseph Molineaux is a former Virginia Beach teacher whose 2026 arrest for trespassing with weapons, threatening mass violence, and possessing child pornography exposed a long history of disturbing behavior.

Molineaux is a 59-year-old former gym teacher at Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach.

He spent 24 years as a physical education teacher and sports coach within Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

In February 2026, he retired instead of being dismissed after a student accidentally saw a photo of his genitals on his phone.

Joseph Molineaux Arrested For More Than Just Trespassing!

Josepg Molineaux was after being found trespassing in the school’s parking lot with a hatchet and knives in his vehicle.

Although he didn’t enter the building, court documents revealed that he had sent alarming texts to his mother.

He threatened to “mow down” Walmart and school administrators if his dog didn’t keep him grounded.

This across jurisdictions in York County.

He pleaded guilty to three felony counts of written threats against family members.

Later, after further investigation, in Virginia Beach, he was charged with possession of child pornography.

On October 9, 2026, Molineaux was sentenced to six months in jail for the felony threats.

His legal troubles have drawn attention due to his prior employment with Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

After his arrest, one of his former students recalled Molineaux disappearing from the school after just one year, saying:

Let me tell everyone who will listen: this dude was a gym coach in York County in the 1990’s. I remember one year he was my gym coach, and the next year, he was gone. We knew why…he was really creepy, inappropriate, and we all knew he was gone because he was forced to be, NOT because he chose to be. – please dig deeper. I don’t know if there are any records, but the word around our school was he was fired for being inappropriate with girls at the school. If they didn’t record it and let him go on doing this kind of thing for decades, shame on the York County School Division. They could have prevented this from extending for so many years by documenting his inappropriate behavior.

While one person asked about the charges:

so he’s gonna be sentenced to 15 years in prison and 14 1/2 years are gonna be suspended and he’s only gonna have to spend six months in jail or in prison. Am I reading that correctly?

Likewise, many of Joseph Molineaux’s former students have come forward describing him as “creepy” and “scary.”

With his long-standing position as a coach and direct access to children, Joseph Molineaux misused his power.
