Gabriel Toppin, fondly called Gabe, departed earlier than expected at 19 years old on December 28, 2026.

Born October 15, 2006, in New Haven, Connecticut, he was cherished by parents Michael and Patricia Toppin and brother Michael Toppin Jr.

At Southern Connecticut State University, he balanced studies in business administration with passions for shot put and discus.

Outside classrooms, Gabe served at Masonic Care Assisted Living and later coached at Lyman Hall High School.

Teammates remember his sharp intellect, infectious laughter, and resilience that turned challenges into opportunities.

SCSU Head Coach John Wallin recalled Gabe as

“a remarkable teammate committed to self-improvement while lifting others up. His potential was limitless, and we'll honor his legacy here.

Survived by immediate family and extended relatives, Gabe leaves behind a legacy of kindness and determination.

Visitation scheduled January 3, 2026, at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home followed by burial at In Memoriam Cemetery.

Community members are urged to support the Toppin family through this challenging period.

Fundraising efforts aim to ease funeral costs while celebrating Gabe's remarkable journey.
