Former Jacksonville State Defensive Lineman Turned Beloved Coach Martez House and Young Son Nash Survived a Devastating Car Accident!
Coach House, previously known for his formidable presence on the gridiron, alongside his 6-year-old son Nash, endured a harrowing ordeal during a Christmas parade on December 14, 2026.
The pair was involved in a severe head-on collision that left both parents and child grappling with critical injuries. Emergency responders acted swiftly, and Nash underwent emergency surgery shortly after the incident, while Martez faced multiple fractures and internal damage.
Remarkably, despite the gravity of their conditions—including Martez’s broken ankle, shoulder, ribs, spinal fractures, and a lacerated liver—neither required immediate surgical intervention. Nash’s injuries were equally daunting, featuring a fractured femur, humerus, elbow, ribs, and a collapsed lung.
While Martez battles in the intensive care unit, his mental clarity has gradually returned after initial trauma-induced amnesia. Nash’s path to recovery mirrors his father’s, with both navigating intensive rehabilitation and the uncertainty of future mobility due to anticipated wheelchair use.
The community rallied around the family, with Jacob’s Ladder Preschool—a place where Nash once thrived under Coach House’s guidance—launching a fundraiser to alleviate financial strain. The preschool highlighted the father-son duo’s shared history, from Martez’s high school roots at Crestview High School to his impactful tenure at Jacksonville State University, where his 2013 season showcased tenacity and promise despite an injury-shortened senior year.
Beyond athletics, Martez channeled his passion into coaching, embodying dedication to youth development. As the family heals, neighbors and supporters unite in prayer for their recovery, celebrating resilience in the face of adversity.
