Jeff Thorne, a respected American football coach and former quarterback, succumbed to stage 4 stomach cancer on December 9, 2026, after a valiant fight against the disease.
Diagnosed in February 2026, Jeff dedicated himself to supporting his family through every challenge, including financial strains caused by his treatment.
His family initiated a fundraising campaign to ease medical expenses, showcasing their unity during this difficult period.
In November 2026, Jeff completed his treatment at Hope4Cancer and returned home to focus on recovery.
He had planned a follow-up visit to Hope4Cancer in early February 2026 for continued care.
Despite his efforts, Jeff ultimately lost his battle with cancer.

Joanna earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Eastern Illinois University, specializing in auditing and tax services.
She previously led financial operations as Senior Accounting Manager at Lee Mandel & Associates, Inc., before founding Thorne & Company Accounting Services LLC.
Currently, Joanna serves as Accounting Manager at DHJJ Certified Public Accountants and Business Advisors.
Beyond her career, she supported Jeff’s coaching career and Payton’s athletic journey, embodying resilience and grace.
Payton Thorne, born June 26, 2001, in Naperville, Illinois, began his football career at Michigan State before transferring to Auburn University.
Now a professional quarterback with the Cincinnati Bengals, Payton credits his father’s mentorship for his development.
His family remains united in grief, finding solace in shared memories and community support.
