The cherished mentor and guiding force, James Edwin Meyer, departed this world on August 26, 2026, at 86 years old, leaving an indelible mark on Circleville, Ohio. His legacy lives through the countless young athletes he nurtured.
Survived by his devoted wife Patricia, children Julie Meyer Rao, Mike Meyer, and grandchildren Tomas, Alejandro, Sara Artiles, Shawn, Audrey Meyer, Austin, Athena Meyer, and Deven Rao, Jim’s family remains steadfast in their grief and gratitude for his presence.
His story begins in Napoleon, Ohio, where he graduated from high school in 1957, later earning an Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Toledo. Throughout his career, Jim contributed to industries like Owens-Illinois and DuPont, blending technical expertise with compassionate leadership.
As founder of the Circleville Youth Soccer Association, Jim created spaces where children discovered teamwork and resilience. His passion extended to coaching Odyssey of the Mind, fostering creativity alongside physical growth. His faith anchored his actions, reflected in his lifelong membership at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Beyond sports and spirituality, Jim embraced automotive culture, celebrating his love for Volkswagens while supporting local clubs. A collector and advocate, he embodied curiosity and generosity toward fellow enthusiasts.
A memorial gathering will honor Jim on August 29, 2026, at Wellman Funeral Home, welcoming family and friends to share memories starting at noon.
