One of the greatest coaches we ever had has passed away, and my heart is honestly cracked open. He coached our field hockey, basketball, and softball teams with this insane mix of knowledge, passion, and intensity that you just don’t see anymore. He didn’t just show up — he poured himself into us. He pushed us to play smarter, harder, and together. He built teams that felt like family, seasons that felt bigger than the sport itself, and memories that shaped who we all became. So many of us grew up under his leadership, and the lessons he taught us followed us far beyond any field or court. And for me personally… when life hits a wall, I still hear his voice. That same tone that could snap you out of self-doubt and make you dig deeper. It never left. Rest easy, Coach. Thank you for every practice, every talk, every push, and every bit of belief you gave us. What you built in all of us will never fade. You were truly one of a kind.
While his students and loved ones remember him, his family is now grieving their loss.
Coach Philip is survived by his wife, Anna Goodman, and his children, Christopher Davis and his husband Jeffrey, Michele Davis, Carrie Goodman, Elli Goodman, and Kasie Winig.
