Tragic Loss of Former FAU Baseball Star Anthony Mesa

Honoring Anthony Mesa: A Faithful Athlete and Devoted Family Man

October 27, 2026

Anthony Mesa, cherished son, brother, and former baseball player, departed this world on October 25, 2026, at 39 years old. The circumstances of his passing remain under wraps.

Survived by his loving spouse Audrey Mesa and their extended kin, Mesa leaves behind enduring memories of companionship since their 2017 nuptials. On November 5, 2017, their union blossomed into a cherished chapter, tragically cut short.

Audrey shared her profound sorrow publicly, declaring, "Anthony Mesa, you will forever be missed! I will love you for the rest of my life ❤️"

Originally hailing from Miami, Florida, Mesa made waves at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) during 2009 after transferring from Broward Community College. His athletic prowess shone brightly, starting 39 out of 56 games with impressive stats—.290 batting average, 40 hits, 30 runs, two homers—and stellar .988 fielding accuracy.

Standout moments included a four-hit performance versus Stony Brook and a memorable series versus Louisiana-Lafayette, where he secured his inaugural home run. Prior to FAU, Mesa earned acclaim at Broward CC, earning second-team all-conference honors with a .339 average and 44 runs in 2008. His high school tenure at G. Holmes Braddock saw him recognized thrice as an all-state outfielder, equally adept on the gridiron.

Fellow alumnus Miguel Migs Abello penned a heartfelt homage on social media, echoing sentiments of brotherhood and admiration: "Anthony Mesa you will missed brother but never forgotten! Fly high Mesa! Crown apple shots for you today brother."

As arrangements for Mesa's funeral and memorial remain undisclosed, loved ones seek solace amidst collective grief, praying for strength and comfort. "Rest In Heavenly Peace, Anthony Mesa!" remains the poignant refrain.
