Christy Lynn Young, a passionate softball enthusiast, passed away peacefully at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on December 21, 2026, at age 50.
Her joy blossomed through creative expression, caring for others, and cultivating beauty in her garden.

Her connection to nature brought her profound peace as she tended to her home garden, finding solace in the growth of plants she nurtured herself.

Known across the softball field for her infectious enthusiasm, she embodied the spirit of summer skies and shared laughter with teammates.

Born March 1, 1975, in Wayne County, Christy Lynn Young was the cherished daughter of Charles Pate Sr. and Faye Rose Pate.
Surrounded by family, she passed away peacefully at 50, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and devotion.
Family remained central to Christy’s identity.
As a devoted mother and grandmother, her greatest treasures were her daughters—Michele , Jamee Bovard, Kimberlyn Kearney, MaeLinda Villanuva—and their grandchildren, who illuminated her world.
Survivors include her mother Faye Rose Pate; daughters Michele (Daniel), Jamee Bovard (Orion), Kimberlyn Kearney (Lindsey), MaeLinda (Emiley Villanuva); and grandchildren Addi Bovard, Alicen Brown, Olivia Jackson.
Her extended family includes siblings Charles Pate Jr., nieces and nephews, and numerous friends who shared her journey.
Christy’s gentle spirit thrived in nature’s embrace, bringing comfort through her kindness and creative touch.
Rev. Christian Powell will lead a graveside service at Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Friends will gather afterward to celebrate her life.
Though her absence is deeply felt, her legacy endures through the love she cultivated.
Christy Lynn Young will forever be remembered for her steadfast devotion and the enduring connections she forged.
