19-Year-Old Choctaw County High School Football Player Caden Yarbrough Died In a Shooting, Leaving Mother and Family Shattered!

A young football player from Weir, Mississippi, Caden Yarbrough, passed away in a shooting on December 31, 2026, at the age of 19.
The incident occurred around 11:57 PM on December 31st when emergency responders rushed to the Thomas Circle area following reports of gunfire.
EMS transported Caden swiftly to Choctaw County Regional Medical Center, but despite medical intervention, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The Weir Police Department and Choctaw County Sheriff's Office collaborate on this homicide case, having already detained a suspect currently incarcerated at the Choctaw County Jail pending formal charges.
Caden leaves behind his devoted mother Emmalee, two brothers, cherished friends, and extended family.
A fundraising initiative has been launched to support his mother with funeral arrangements.
Online tributes poured in following his passing, including an emotional message from aunt Nikki Yarbrough: "Proud of you is an understatement because you had turned things around and was headed to the top!!! Yes, it hurts, but I'll continue to trust that My God makes no mistakes! Keep resting nephew and pray I meet you on the other side! Heartbreak26💔😭 I love you My Caden Yarbrough🙏🏽 Rest in peace Yarb😭
Dillon composed a heartfelt eulogy highlighting Caden's kindness, respectfulness, and unwavering optimism: "A young man who was kind-hearted, loving, respectful, eager to please, always dreaming about the future, and striving to improve his circumstances. Though imperfect, Caden cherished his close relationships and would go to great lengths for those he loved."
Memorial service details remain undisclosed by the family at this time.
