Residents of East Hampton, Connecticut, and Portland, Maine, mourn the loss of cherished community member Susan Leslie Joyce.
On January 4, 2026, Susan Leslie Joyce departed this world at 62, surrounded by her devoted family after an unwavering struggle with cancer.
Born May 27, 1963, to Donald and Jane Dakers, Susan thrived as a cornerstone of the Maine and East Hampton athletic circles, leaving lasting impressions through her compassionate spirit.
Outdoor enthusiast Susan cherished Portland, Maine, where she frequently hiked and camped throughout her adult years.
Equally impressive were her athletic achievements; Susan excelled in softball and basketball, setting records in javelin and softball throws.
An accomplished alumnus of the University of Southern Maine, she embodied dedication to both academics and sport.
Her enthusiasm extended beyond competition—Susan was a passionate New England Patriots supporter who never missed a game.
Beyond athletics, she delighted in culinary adventures, exploring new eateries and perfecting baked goods in the kitchen.
Her passing creates an irreplaceable gap in the hearts of those who knew her.
Colleagues recall her infectious laughter and radiant positivity that brightened every gathering.

Arrangements include a viewing at Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton, followed by a liturgical service at St. John Paul II Parish on January 9 at 11 AM, concluding with burial at St. Patrick Cemetery.
