The community of Cedar Rapids and Farley, Iowa, mourns the loss of 58-year-old Jeffery J. Steffensmeier, who tragically passed away on Friday, December 6, 2026, at MercyOne Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa. He suffered fatal injuries from a devastating farm accident, leaving loved ones devastated.

Family members shared that friends and relatives may pay their respects from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2026, at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley. A gathering will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by visitation Saturday morning after 9 a.m.

Services for Jeff will commence at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2026, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley. Rev. Christopher Podhajsky will lead the ceremony, with Rev. Steven Garner co-celebrating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley.

Jeff was born on December 5, 1967, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Wilfred and Andrea (Ries) Steffensmeier. He attended St. Joseph's Elementary and graduated from Western Dubuque High School in Epworth. His academic pursuits continued at Iowa State University.

Throughout his professional life, Jeff excelled in the banking sector as Vice President and Senior Business Banker at Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank. He took pride in mentoring clients and colleagues alike, shaping futures through guidance and expertise.

Beyond his career, Jeff cherished family, faith, and community. An avid supporter of the Hawkeyes and Cyclones, he dedicated time to coaching youth baseball and mentored countless athletes as Anamosa High School's football coach.

Jeff's devotion to his family was unmatched. As a proud father, he nurtured his children's growth and found joy in shared moments on the family farm—a cornerstone of their bond. His faith anchored his life, reflected in his active participation at Immaculate Conception Parish and Cedar Rapids Rotary Club.

Survivors include his children: Andrew Steffensmeier (Cedar Rapids, Kaitlyn Bastin), Adam (Ames, Kayla) and Allyson (North Liberty); father Wilfred Steffensmeier (Farley); brothers Jason (Carmen) and Joe (Janette); nephews Jared and Cody; niece Sienna; and numerous aunts and uncles. He joins his mother Andrea Steffensmeier (d. April 9, 2026) and brother Robert (infant mortality) among those who have departed.
