The Muncie community grieves the sudden passing of Kurt Griffis, a cherished soccer and track coach, alongside his military service and enduring family bonds.

Kurt Griffis, a 2004 Ball State graduate, built a legacy as Delta High School's head soccer coach and track & field leader, guiding teams to victory while inspiring countless athletes.

Beyond athletics, Kurt taught Technology 7 at Delta Middle School and served as a dedicated educator and construction professional.

His military service included seven years in the U.S. Army, with a deployment to Bosnia during the conflict, where he demonstrated unwavering courage.

Family and community members share heartfelt memories, praising his kindness and the light he brought to every life he touched.

Kurt Griffis is Survived By His Wife, Three Sons, and Extended Family

His passing leaves behind Lauren, their three sons Isaac, Levi, and Zion, and a network of relatives who cherish his memory.

Isaac, now a Ball State graduate, works in landscaping while leading a loving family; Zion and Levi continue their athletic pursuits at Indiana University East.

Lauren, a former Delta High School assistant track coach, remains a pillar of support for her family and community.

Kurt’s legacy endures through his children’s achievements and the countless lives he influenced as a coach and veteran.

Funeral arrangements will be shared by his family in due course.
