Lakeland, Florida, and Hastings, Nebraska, communities are grieving the sudden passing of Jesse Grimmett, a celebrated realtor and former athlete.

Jesse Grimmett passed away at 27, with details of his death remaining private per family request.

A Nebraska native, Jesse was adored in Hastings' sports circles for his infectious enthusiasm and athletic prowess.

At Adams Central High School, Jesse shone as a standout athlete, graduating in 2016 with a reputation for excellence on court.

Standing 6'2" and weighing 175 pounds, he excelled in basketball as a versatile forward and guard, leading the 2015 varsity team to a 25-5 record and district championship.

His 2014 junior season saw Adams Central achieve a 21-5 record under his contributions, while his sophomore year established him as a consistent performer with elite rankings.

Beyond hoops, Jesse dominated tennis at the JV level, mirroring his disciplined approach to competition.

Beyond sports, Jesse served six years in the U.S. Army and continued as a Florida National Guard member until his passing.

As a fourth-generation realtor, Jesse followed in family footsteps dating to the 1950s, currently working with Live Florida Realtor in Lakeland.

Outside work, he cherished outdoor pursuits like fishing and sports, leaving an indelible mark on those around him.

The community rallied with a GoFundMe campaign to support his family's financial needs during this difficult time.

Survivors include his wife Nina, mother Dayna, father, siblings, and extended family.

Dayna Grimmett shared a poignant tribute on social media, expressing her love and longing for her son.

“My baby boy is gone. Life will never be the same without him. I’d give anything for one more of his amazing bear hugs and to hear him say “Mom I love you” one more time. He always sent me this song to listen to because he knew it would brighten my day. I miss you so much sweet Jesse—I don’t know how to go on without you. I’m so glad you’re finally free of the pain. Love you always and forever, and I hope to see you again real soon.”

Funeral arrangements will be announced soon, with his legacy of service remembered by all who knew him.
