Remembering Scott Merriman: A Beloved Community Figure Passes Away
Scott Merriman, a cherished former athlete and active community member from Manasquan and Spring Lake, tragically passed away on October 26, 2026, at the age of 56. He spent his final moments at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Neptune, Scott excelled in both baseball and football during his high school years at Manasquan High School, earning recognition for his exceptional talent and spirited leadership on the field. His dedication to the Manasquan football team was unwavering, often seen cheering at games with his iconic chant, "Go Squan beat Wall."
Professionally, Scott dedicated nearly three decades to his role as a salesman at Fedway Associates. Beyond his career, he was deeply involved in community organizations such as the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh in Belmar and generously contributed to local causes through his role as an organ donor.
Survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Meghan Emery Merriman, and their daughters Haleigh Jane and Maeve Elizabeth, Scott leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering support for his loved ones. Friends recall his ability to connect with everyone and his genuine care for others, making him a truly irreplaceable presence in their lives.
His memorial service will be held on Friday, October 31st, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Rose R.C. Church in Belmar, followed by a visitation at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30th.
