Reportedly, the former Baldwin County High School football player was involved in a severe head-on collision on Alabama Highway 59 near the 54-mile marker, approximately two miles south of Stockton within Baldwin County.

The tragic accident, which occurred around 1:15 p.m., resulted in the deaths of both E.J. Jones and his passenger.

E.J., who was balancing his final semester of college with his football ambitions at West Alabama, had returned home for the weekend to spend time with loved ones.

According to reports, Jones and his passenger were traveling in a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze when it collided with a 2026 Lexus RX 350 driven by a 15-year-old teen driver.

After impact, the Cruze ignited and was consumed by flames. Both drivers succumbed instantly, while the younger driver required emergency medical attention at a local facility.

Passenger Chantelle L. McPherson, 51, sustained injuries and was airlifted to USA Health University Hospital in Mobile for critical care.

Unconfirmed details suggest the deceased may have been E.J.'s father, E.J. Jones Jr., though official confirmation remains pending.
