Former Junior Wahawk Youth Football player Emmanuel DeLeon, from Waterloo, Iowa, tragically lost his life in a catastrophic vehicle collision, leaving behind his loving parents and a sibling.
As an active participant at Hoover Middle School, Emmanuel engaged in diverse extracurriculars including baseball, band, and football.
Colleagues and mentors consistently highlighted his exceptional teamwork, leadership qualities, and genuine character.

On January 4, 2026, the DeLeon family enjoyed their Kenyan adventure until a sudden, devastating crash altered their future forever.

Post-tragedy, Emmanuel and Kairu tragically passed away immediately, while their parents and sister Njeri sustained injuries requiring intensive care.
Njeri, currently a junior at West High and former Hoover Eagle, remains in critical condition at the intensive care unit.
